ITINERARY

If you arrive in Iquitos one day before the tour, we will pick you up at the airport and take you to your hotel. The following morning, our guide will meet you at 8:00 a.m. to begin the tour.

For travelers arriving on the same day, we will meet you at the airport at your arrival time, take you for breakfast, and then begin the day’s activities.

Belén Market

We will begin with a guided visit to Belén Market, exploring its different sections dedicated to Amazonian products, spices, medicinal plants, and fish.

Together with our guide, we will walk through the market streets and see products such as chonta, açaí, aguaje, guaraná, turmeric, achiote, and ginger. We will also visit Pasaje Paquito, where we can learn about traditional medicinal plants including jergón sacha, ajo sacha, uña de gato, and ayahuasca.

We will continue through the fishing area, where we can observe different Amazonian fish species and other exotic animals. The market also offers a look at traditional Amazonian foods such as juanes with tacacho, cecina, grilled caiman, and suri.

While we visit the market with our guide, our assistant will take your luggage to the Bellavista Nanay embarkation point.

Nanay River

At approximately 10:00 a.m., we will board the boat and begin navigating the Nanay River toward the confluence of the Nanay, Itaya, and Amazon rivers.

During the navigation, our guide will point out the contrasting colors of the river waters and help us look for pink and gray freshwater dolphins that inhabit the area.

Fundo Don Pedrito & Victoria Regia

After approximately 20 minutes of navigation on the Amazon River, we will arrive at Fundo Don Pedrito. Here, we will visit the breeding area for paiche, caimans, taricayas, piranhas, and other fish species, while learning about their feeding.

We will then continue to the Victoria Regia, where our guide will introduce us to this impressive Amazonian aquatic plant, known for its enormous floating leaves and flowers.

After the visit, we will continue navigating toward San Juan de Huashalado. From there, we will take a 15-minute walk through the community to reach another boat on the Yanayacu River.

We will then navigate downstream for approximately 30 minutes until we arrive at Eco Lodge, located in the rainforest.

Afternoon at Eco Lodge

We will arrive at the lodge at approximately 2:00 p.m. After assigning the rooms and settling in, we will enjoy an Amazonian lunch.

In the afternoon, we will take a paddle canoe ride along the river, accompanied by our guide as we look for birds, monkeys, and shanshos along the route.

As evening approaches, we will continue enjoying the surroundings until sunset before returning to the lodge for dinner and rest.

We will start early, around 5:00 a.m., with a canoe ride along the river to watch the Amazon sunrise and spend some time observing birds in their natural surroundings.

After returning to the lodge for breakfast, we will continue with an ethnobotanical walk through the flooded forest. Accompanied by our guide, we will learn about the vegetation of this ecosystem and see centuries-old trees such as ceibas, kapok trees, and machira coriácea.

As we walk through the forest, we will pass through areas where monkeys, sloths, and different species of birds and other wildlife live. Our guide will help us identify the species we encounter and explain more about the natural environment surrounding the lodge.

Around 2:00 p.m., we will stop for lunch before continuing with the day’s activities.

Overnight Camping in the Rainforest

Tonight, we will leave the lodge behind and set up camp in the rainforest. Camping is generally available during the dry season. We will spend the night in tents surrounded by the sounds of the forest and the natural environment.

During the evening, we will enjoy an outdoor barbecue dinner while listening to local stories and legends. This provides an opportunity to learn more about the traditions and relationship with nature of the communities in the Amazon.

After dinner, we will take a short night walk with our guide to look for wildlife that becomes active after dark. Depending on what we encounter, we may observe insects such as tarantulas, snakes, nocturnal monkeys, and birds.

We will then return to the campsite and rest in our tents, surrounded by the rainforest.

We will begin the morning by taking down the campsite together and cleaning the area before returning to Eco Lodge for breakfast.

After breakfast, we will board the boat and head out for a piranha fishing excursion. Accompanied by your guide, you will have the opportunity to try piranha fishing and learn about these characteristic Amazonian fish.

We will then return to the lodge for lunch and take a short break before continuing with the afternoon activity.

Yanayacu Timicuro Community

In the afternoon, we will visit the Yanayacu Timicuro rural community, where you will have the opportunity to learn about the local traditions, customs, and way of life.

During the visit, your guide will introduce you to aspects of the community’s daily life and its relationship with the surrounding forest and rivers.

Night Canoe Ride & Stargazing

After dinner at the lodge, we will take a nighttime canoe ride along the river.

As we navigate through the rainforest, you will have the opportunity to admire the Amazonian night sky and its stars. We will also search among the aquatic plants for frogs resting on the vegetation and other signs of nocturnal wildlife.

After the excursion, we will return to Eco Lodge, where you will spend the night.

After breakfast, we will leave the lodge and head to Monkey Island, a primate rescue center where you will have the opportunity to see and interact with different types of monkeys.

We will then visit the Yagua Indigenous community, where local artisans will introduce you to their traditional crafts and share some of their cultural traditions through traditional dances.

Amazon River

As part of the final day, we will have the opportunity to swim in the Amazon River, allowing you to enjoy one last activity in the rainforest before beginning the return journey.

After lunch, at approximately 2:00 p.m., we will leave the lodge and begin our return trip to Iquitos. We expect to arrive in the city at around 5:00 p.m.

Once we arrive in Iquitos, we will provide transportation to your hotel or the airport, according to your departure arrangements.

This marks the end of your 4-day Iquitos jungle tour.

We had a great time, they were super punctual and safe, and the whole team treated us wonderfully.
Thank you so much for everything.
I was absolutely thrilled with the tour I booked with Travel Peru Agency to Choquequirao. I felt like Indiana Jones crossing the valleys and arriving at the lost city of the Incas. It was a wild adventure, and they didn't miss a single detail. If you love wild and authentic experiences, don't hesitate to book this tour.

With this agency, we did three tours.... the best one was the Salkantay trek (4 days: a beautiful experience). Wilfredo was fantastic: he explained to us everything about the itinerary and the different possibilities to get the Machu Picchu tickets; he answered via whatsapp to our additional questions; we could rent the sticks and the sleeping bags in the same agency and we had all the assistence also at the end of the trekking to get back to Cusco. Other two important things: the cooker was very goos and during the trekking we ate very well; in the price of the tour were also included two nights in Aguas Calientes at the end of the trekking. We definitely recomend this agency, especially Wilfredo.
