Manu National Park Tour 6 Days
Manu National Park is located west of Puerto Maldonado. Although access is easier through Cusco. Visiting Manu requires time and accepting or being open to special and sometimes difficult travel conditions. You should be mainly flexible to changes in travel plans mainly for weather reasons. As in all the Amazon the fauna is shy and elusive so we suggest taking a tour of at least 6 to 8 days to get a good sighting record.
ITINERARY
Starting at 5:00 a.m. in our private minivan, we will travel southeast to Manu National Park through fascinating mountains and valleys. We will arrive at the colonial town of Paucartambo (the folkloric capital of Cusco) and stop for breakfast. From here we drive to the highest point, the Acjanaco pass at 4000 m (13,123 ft) entering the Manu Biosphere. After contemplating the panorama, we descend through the cloud forest, a sea of shrubs, trees and flowering plants that feed on the mist that rises through the mountain. Different types of plants such as lichens and orchids adorn the mountain. Birds that can be found in the area are hummingbirds, quetzals, trogons, toucans, parrots and tanagers. The country’s national bird, the cock-of-the-rock (Rupicola peruviana) is also a resident of Manu. It is also likely to see the woolly monkey, exclusive to the cloud forest, among the many waterfalls and waterfalls.
After a delicious breakfast the group continues its journey by boat to navigate the Alto Madre de Dios River. A long journey awaits us where we can observe a great variety of birds, such as herons, kingfishers and always the presence of vultures of which the most spectacular is the condor of the jungle, the king of the vultures (Scarcoramphus papa) and the Jaguar (Panthera Onca). Then a brief stop in the town of Boca Manu to rest and then continue our journey and one begins to realize why Manu is so famous for its wildlife. On the banks of the river we observe groups of turtles, white caimans (Caiman cocodrylus) or maybe some ronsocos (Hydrochaeris hydrochaeris) and much more. In the afternoon we arrive at our campsite where we will spend the night.
Today the group visits Cocha Salvador, we visit the oxbow lake to paddle silently in a catamaran that gives us the possibility to observe the wolves of the river and a great variety of strange birds like the sultana cock (Porphyrula martinica) or the agami heron (Agamia agami). Later we will navigate in the Otorongo trail one of the most impressive oxbow lakes of the Manu jungle, with the guide we will learn the functioning and the secrets of the tropical forest. In the afternoon we return to our camp in Machiguenga house.
After an Amazonian breakfast, we will spend the morning at the Salvador oxbow lake. We will go canoeing from where you will be able to see the wildlife of the meander. Here we will see the agami heron, capuchin monkeys.
We will spend the rest of the day hiking looking for different types of animals, medicinal plants, groups of peccaries. At sunset we will return to the Machiguenga house to enjoy our dinner and spend the night.
After breakfast we will say goodbye to the Machiguenga house to start our return trip. We will take our boat along the Boca Manu River for four hours. Then we will continue on the Madre de Dios River for another four hours. During this trip we will enjoy the wildlife around the river.
Our lodge awaits us in the middle of the jungle. Here we will have dinner and take our last night walk.
On the last day we will take the boat that will take us to the Atalaya port from where we will take our car to return to Cusco, where we will arrive around 7:00pm.

Surprising Taqrachullo Ever since I read about Taqrachullo, I knew I had to go! I looked for agencies in Cusco, but none offered the tour specifically; however, when I inquired with Travel Peru Agency, Johan explained that he could arrange a private tour to Taqrachullo, so I didn't hesitate to book it!! It was definitely one of the best places I visited in Cusco! Even though it is quite far from the city, we visited spots like Suyckutambo and the Three Canyons, and even met Chuno a dog considered the guardian of Taqrachullo. I highly recommend it!Posted on Tripadvisor![]()

Posted on Tripadvisor![]()

Posted on Tripadvisor![]()

Comimos y dormimos genial. Sin duda una experiencia para repetir!Posted on Tripadvisor![]()

highly recommend this agency We started planning our trip only 15 days before departure, and without the help of Travel Peru Agency, it would never have been possible to accomplish everything we had planned in just 10 days. The entire trip was organized down to the smallest detail, always with extraordinary care to ensure everything went as smoothly as possible, without us having to worry about anything. At the end of each tour, they always made sure to check how the experience had gone and provide us with all the necessary information for the next tour, which showed constant professionalism and attention to detail. I highly recommend this agency without any hesitation, and if I ever return to Peru, I would do everything exactly the same way. I would especially like to thank Alfredo, the person in charge of the agency, for giving us such special memories on this unforgettable trip. I would also like to thank our private guides — Leo, Vilma, Lenyn, and Moisés — for all their patience, kindness, and the incredible knowledge they shared with us about the history and culture of Peru. All that remains for me to say is: “TUPANANCHISKAMA”Posted on Tripadvisor![]()

Exceptional Tour Experience Around Cusco” The tour exceeded our expectations in every way. Wilfredo, our main contact, took excellent care of us and fulfilled all our requests. The guides for each part of the tour were outstanding — they provided fascinating insights into the places we visited and ensured that each day was well-structured and memorable. Everything ran smoothly, from tickets and entrances to transportation. We highly recommend this tour to anyone looking to actively explore Peru’s most spectacular sites around Cusco with the support of experienced guides. Insider tip: Be sure to book the additional Waynapicchu ticket — it was one of the absolute highlights of the trip.
