Ollantaytambo + Immersive Tourism in Huilloc Alto
We will meet at the main square of Cusco at 7:00 am and depart for the town of Ollantaytambo. The journey will take approximately 2 hours. Upon arrival, we will visit the archaeological ruins of Ollantaytambo, where we will enjoy this important Inca site for 1 hour, take photos, and soak in its positive energy.
Next, we will continue our journey to the Willoc community. Along the way, we will pass through various villages, mountains, beautiful valleys, and the Huillcamayo River. Upon arrival in Willoc, the community members will welcome us with rye flowers and begin an explanation of their daily life, culture, and traditions. They will share their ancient spinning and weaving techniques, the months dedicated to these activities, and their planting and harvesting practices.
Afterward, they will lend us their traditional clothing, and we will change into their colorful garments. Meanwhile, some community members will heat the oven to prepare the pachamanca, a traditional lunch that we will bury together as part of a ritual. Then, we will enjoy a performance of the Huallata dance, inspired by an Andean bird, and join the dance to the rhythm of traditional music with drums and flutes.
Later, we will participate in spinning and dyeing fabrics using natural plants and have the opportunity to weave our own bracelets (additional cost of 10 soles). After these activities, we will unearth the pachamanca and enjoy it as a buffet, accompanied by a variety of salads and muña or hierbabuena tea. After lunch, we will perform an offering to Mother Earth (Pachamama), a gratitude ritual that will connect us with the spiritual traditions of the Andes.
Finally, we will say goodbye to the community and begin our return to Cusco, arriving around 5:00 pm.
