Itinerary
Day 1: Iquitos – Yanayacu River Lodge
- Reception at the airport or hotel in Iquitos: Our team will welcome you according to your scheduled flight or from your hotel if you are already in Iquitos.
- Transfer to Bellavista Nanay Tourist Pier: During the journey, you will receive a brief orientation about the city of Iquitos.
- Visit to the Plaza de Armas, Tarapacá Malecon, and Belén Market: Explore the historic buildings, observe the sale of exotic animals, and taste local foods.
- Tour at the Bellavista Nanay Pier: Enjoy a 15-20 minute walk before embarking, getting to know the gastronomy of the jungle.
- Navigation on the Amazon River: On board comfortable typical boats, navigate the largest river in the world and one of the 7 Natural Wonders of the World, the Amazon River. Admire the majestic scenery and picturesque riverside villages.
- First stop: Observe the junction of the Amazon and Nanay rivers, where you can see how the waters of different colors do not mix.
- Second stop: Visit the Los Yahuas ethnic community, whose ancestors were discovered by Francisco de Orellana in 1541. Learn about their customs, admire their traditional clothing, and try their marksmanship with the blowgun.
- Arrival at the Yanayacu River Lodge: Reception and explanation of the sustainability standards of the Lodge and its environment.
- 1:30 p.m. – Lunch: Enjoy a delicious Amazonian meal.
- Afternoon Activity: Swim in the waters of the Amazon and exfoliate your skin with natural mud. Watch the stunning Amazonian sunset.
- Dinner at the Lodge: Enjoy a comforting dinner.
- Night Excursion: Take a night hike to discover the mysterious world of nocturnal insects, spiders, tarantulas, and snakes. Return to the Lodge and overnight.
Day 2: Yanayacu River Lodge – Jungle
- 4:30 a.m. – Morning Tour: Watch the Amazonian sunrise and receive positive energies. During this tour, you will be able to see various species of birds that feed on the banks of the river. Your guide will explain about each species.
- Sailing to observe the pink dolphin (Bufeo Colorado): Meet this fascinating species unique to the Amazon and protagonist of many local legends.
- Breakfast at the Lodge: Enjoy a delicious breakfast before starting the day’s activities.
- Visit to the Artisan Sugar Mill: Learn about the ancient tools used in the jungle and participate in the extraction of sugar cane juice. Taste aphrodisiac and medicinal drinks such as RC, 21 roots, SVSS and Flamingo.
- Artisanal Fishing Tour: Learn local fishing techniques for piranhas and other species. If you wish, our chef will prepare your catch for you to enjoy.
- Lunch at the Lodge: Savor a delicious meal before continuing with the activities.
- Monkey Island Tour: Interact with more than 15 varieties of rescued monkeys, which are free on site.
- Dinner at the Lodge: Enjoy a delicious dinner.
- Night excursion: Explore a nearby lake or creek in search of small alligators.
Day 3: Yanayacu River Lodge – Jungle
- 8:00 a.m. – Breakfast: Enjoy an energizing breakfast before starting the day’s activities.
- Botanical Walk: Explore the jungle and learn about medicinal and ornamental plants. Your guide will teach you the secrets of the jungle and you can taste fruits or barks used as alternative medicine.
- Activity on huambe lianas: To swing like Tarzan on these resistant lianas, used by riverside settlers in many jobs.
- Wildlife Observation: During the hike, you will be able to encounter species of monkeys, sloths, and birds in their natural habitat.
- Lunch at the Lodge: Enjoy a delicious meal before the next activity.
- Visit to the San Rafael Butterfly Garden: Observe more than 23 species of diurnal butterflies and learn about their reproduction process and metamorphosis.
- Dinner at the Lodge: End the day with a comforting dinner.
Day 4: Yanayacu River Lodge – Iquitos
- Breakfast at the Lodge: Enjoy breakfast before the last excursion.
- Floodplain Exploration: Visit an area protected by riverside settlers and discover wild flora, including timber trees and bromeliads. Admire the giant flora, especially the towering “Lupuna” (Ceiba pentandra) trees that can exceed 60 meters in height and be over 200 years old.
- Lunch at the Lodge: Enjoy one last meal at the Lodge.
- Return to Iquitos: Board the boat to return to the city of Iquitos.
- Arrival in Iquitos: Arrival between 5:00 and 5:30 p.m., transfer to the airport or to your hotel. End of our services.
