Itinerary

Cultural Immersion Tourism in Huilloc Alto

For this tour, we will meet at the main square of Cusco at 7:30 am. From there, we will depart to the community of Huilloc Alto, on a journey of approximately 2 hours and 30 minutes. Along the way, we will pass through various villages, impressive mountains, and the majestic Sacred Valley, enjoying unique landscapes.

Upon arrival in Huilloc, the community members will welcome us with rye flowers, showing their warmth and hospitality. Then, they will give us an explanation about their daily life, culture, and customs. We will learn how they have kept their traditions alive, such as spinning and weaving their own clothing, and they will tell us about their agricultural practices, including planting and harvesting in their fields.

Next, we will have the opportunity to dress in the colorful traditional clothing that the community members wear daily. Meanwhile, part of the community will be heating the oven to prepare the Pachamanca, a traditional Andean dish cooked underground. Everyone will participate in the process of burying the Pachamanca, a unique and enriching experience.

Then, we will enjoy a performance of the traditional Wallata dance, inspired by a bird native to the Peruvian Andes. This dance, accompanied by authentic drum and flute music, will allow us to experience a magical moment and be part of this cultural expression.

Afterward, we will participate in spinning and dyeing garments using native plants. We will also have the option to weave our own bracelets (additional cost: 10 soles), an activity that will connect us with the ancestral techniques of the community.

Finally, we will unearth the Pachamanca to enjoy a delicious buffet lunch, accompanied by a variety of salads and muña and yerbabuena tea. After lunch, we will perform an offering to Mother Earth (Pachamama), a gratitude ritual that will connect us with the spiritual traditions of the Andes.

Once the ritual is over, we will prepare for our farewell and return to the city of Cusco, arriving around 5:00 pm.
