Waqrapukara One Day Tour
Waqrapukara is a pre-Inca fortress located high in the Andes, a place full of history and surrounded by breathtaking landscapes. During the tour, you will enjoy panoramic views and a hike to this unique archaeological site. Upon arrival, you will explore its main structures such as the Intipunku (Sun Gate), the main square, Wiracocha’s enclosure, and other points of great cultural importance. A perfect adventure for those looking to discover the hidden history of Cusco in just one day.

ITINERARY
Cusco is par excellence the most important tourist destination in Peru and offers many more attractions besides Machu Picchu, one of these is the fortress of Waqrapukara declared as Cultural Heritage of the Nation, is a historical attraction that has much wealth and importance for Peru and its pre-Hispanic history.
The tour begins with the pick up from the hotel at 05:00 am and then head south of Cusco to Chuquicahuana we will turn to the province of Acomayo, on the way we will appreciate the Pomacanchi Lagoon (second largest lake in the region) making a stop.
Continuing with the tour we will arrive to the community of Sangarará where we will have breakfast, and then continue to the pass from where we will begin the hike to Waqrapukara for 2 hrs approx.
During this walk we will be able to appreciate a great amount of flora and fauna typical of the area, in the site of Waqrapukara we will have a guided tour of the following sectors: INTIPUNKU door of the sun, main square, towers, andenería, enclosure of Wiracocha and cave paintings.
After the visit to Waqrapukara we will start with the return to Sangarará to have our delicious lunch, finally we will be back to Cusco at 18:30 approx.
